UBI fastmap support added in 3.7 merge window

Tim Bird <tim.bird@...>

Hello everyone,

I just wanted to inform you that the UBI fastmap support,
written by Richard Weinberger of Linuxtronix, with funding by
the CE Workgroup of the Linux Foundation, has been merged into
Linus Torvald's linux tree as part of the 3.7 merge window.

Please see commit e9eca4d.

This should speed up UBIFS mount time on large flash parts
by a lot, and should overall help out a great deal with boot
time for systems using UBIFS.

This feature is currently defaulted to 'off' in the kernel config
due to it being somewhat experimental. Anyone who is interested
in this work please test it as soon as possible, and report
any issues to Richard or the linux-mtd mailing list.

Tim,
That's great news!

I've been watching this one for some time, it's a clever fix for a difficult issue.
