[Proposal] Add IPv6 support to U-Boot

Wolfgang Denk

Proposer: Wolfgang Denk

Summary: Add IPv6 network support to U-Boot boot loader

Description: U-Boot is a pretty popular boot loader for embedded
systems. It supports download of files (like kernel or file system
images) over Ethernet, but it's operation is limited to IPv4.

It is just a matter of time that we will need to be able to boot
devices (think of network switches, LAN access points, terminal
servers etc.) in a IPv6 environment.

This project shall add extend U-Boot such that it can perform similar
services as it has now for IPv4 in a IPv6 environment.

Scope: not quite clear yet

Interested and willing to work on this: DENX

Best regards,

Wolfgang Denk

An optimist believes we live in the best world possible; a pessimist
fears this is true.
